Wheaton Pushes Past Men's Soccer, 2-0

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. The New England College men's soccer team was blanked by Wheaton College (Mass.), 2-0 Wednesday evening at Don Melander Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wheaton College struck first in the 11th minute of play. The Lyons were awarded a penalty kick from an NEC defended taking down JD Sousa in the box. On the penalty kick, Sousa scored by shooting to the lower right corner of the cage. The Pilgrims nearly tied the game with under two minutes remaining in the first half, as a shot from Panagiotis Galatas curved right past the far post.

Wheaton would get their second goal of the game in the 58th minute, as a cross from Alberto Franceshi made its way through the NEC box where it found Alex Nickerson, who drove it home.

GOALTENDERS
Robbie Ferguson picked up four saves in the contest for New England College, while Cameron Millington did not register a save for Wheaton.

New England College will hit the road on Saturday, September 14th as they take on Fisher College at 6:00 pm.
