Box Score SALEM, Mass. The New England College women's ice hockey dropped a 4-1 decision to Salem State University in New England Hockey Conference action, Saturday afternoon at the Rockett Arena.
The Pilgrims drop to 0-4-0 on the year, while the Vikings pick up their first win of the 2019-20 season and move to 1-2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Vikings were able to start the first period on the attack, as Amanda Giles scored less than five minutes in. Six minutes later, Giles picked up her second goal of the game, as she scored on the power play. Salem State pushed their lead to 3-0 later in the first period, as Carolyn Mahoney found the back of the net.
The hosts were able to expand their lead to 4-0 in the tail end of the middle period, as Abby Stafford potted an unassisted goal.
New England College got on the board, as
Cortney Reyes was able to beat the Salem State netminder on the power play.
Kaylee Cross and
Tara Turcotte picked up assists on the tally.
GOALTENDERSCianna Weir got the start for the Pilgrims as she recorded 12 saves in 20 minutes or action.
Sean D'urso saw her first collegiate action, as she turned aside 26 of 27 shots. Sarah Plourde picked up 17 stops for the Vikings.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS- Both teams were successful once on the power play. New England College was 1-for-4, while Salem was 1-for-8.
