NH. The New England College women's ice hockey team fell to Salem State University 4-2 in New England Hockey Conference action in Henniker, Saturday Evening.
The Pilgrims drop to 0-8-0 on the season, while the Vikings pick up their second win of the 2019-20 season and move to 2-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe first period started very even with neither team able to capitalize despite opportunities. The Pilgrims opened up scoring just over seven minutes in with a goal from
Madison Nipper assisted by
Kaylee Cross and
Sidney Capolino. The Vikings responded less than a minute later on a power-play opportunity to tie things up at 1-1. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the period as things closed out 1-1 heading into the second.
In the second period, both teams again had strong defensive play turning away opportunities. About halfway through New England College picked up a four on three power-play opportunity and were able to capitalize.
Tara Turcotte scored the goal and
Stephanie Leger picked up the assist. Again Salem State was able to respond and tie things up at 2-2 late in the period. The Vikings were able to score again a few minutes later to take a 3-2 lead. Salem State was able to add another goal for a 4-2 lead just over five minutes into the third period. The score would hold for the rest of the game as the Vikings took the win with a score of 4-2.
GOALTENDERSSean D'urso made 28 saves in the contest. Sarah Plourde picked up 32 saves in the win.
