HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was a tightly contested one for most of the 90 minutes as the two programs battled hard for loose balls and competed for a lot of 50-50 opportunities. NEC broke the scoreless tie in the 19thminute when Brooklyn Ramsdell (Manchester, Conn.) collected a pass from Jacob Carney (Tyngsborough, Mass.) and delivered a shot to the back of net from about 14 yards out. It was Ramsdell's second goal of the season and it gave the Pilgrims a one goal advantage for the rest of the first half.

NEC then made it a two-goal game when Cooper Valinski (Portsmouth, N.H.) buried a penalty kick home in the 65thminute his second in as many games.

GOALKEEPERS
Rivier freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Hasenfus made three saves on the evening while NEC's Dylan Mix (Charlestown, N.H.) stopped the only shot he faced on net.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday when they travel to Elms College for a 4:30 p.m. New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup.
