HOW IT HAPPENED
With 20 minutes left in regulation Dean's Davonn Smith deked his defender to go one-on-one with NEC's keeper, but Robbie Ferguson (Hopkinton, N.H.) managed to get a foot on it while diving to keep the game scoreless.

Three minutes later, NEC's Brooklyn Ramsdell (Manchester, Conn.) had a great look off of a free kick, but he sailed his shot high over the net. With six-and-a-half minutes left in regulation, Jacob Carney (Tyngsborough, Mass.) fired a point-blank shot on goal that Dean's Devin Moore made a diving save on.

With 1:29 remaining in the game the Pilgrims were awarded a penalty kick after a takedown in the box. Valinski shot low to seal the win.

Dean's Devon Moore had 11 saves on the day, while NEC's Ferguson stopped all six shots he faced in the shutout win.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims have a quick turnaround, as they host Rivier University on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
