Women's Ice Hockey Downed by Salem State

Box Score SALEM, Mass. - The New England College women's ice hockey team dropped a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) matchup to Salem State University by a 4-1 score.

The Pilgrims will fall to 2-11-1 overall with a 2-6-1 record in the NEHC. Salem State will improve to 4-7-1 with a 3-5-1 record in the NEHC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams played through the first period in the same spot as they started, 0-0. However, Vicki Shaw broke the scoreless tie with her second goal of the season just under five minutes into the period. Casie Curtin responded with a goal just a minute and 24 seconds later to tie the score at one. Kylie Currier earned the game-winning goal just passed the halfway point of the second frame. A late second period goal by Curtin and third period powerplay goal by Danielle Kelley put the game out of reach for the Pilgrims.

The Pilgrims were 0-6 on the powerplay while the Vikings were 1-6.

GOALTENDERS
Ashley Castriotta made 34 saves on 38 shots on goal in the losing effort. Isabelle Woodward made 21 saves on 22 shots on goal in the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the fourth meeting all-time between the two programs. The Pilgrims are now 3-1-0 against the Vikings.
-This was the second meeting of the season, both in NEHC play.
