HENNIKER, N.H.-The New England College men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 loss to Amherst College on Wednesday evening in non-conference play.
With the win, Amherst improves to 5-3-0, while NEC falls to 4-5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Amherst struck early, as Andrew Barkidjija threw a long ball in from the sidelines to Sean Fitzgerald, who headed it in to the left for the score. NEC evened the score at 1-1 in the 31
st minute when Carter Adams (Lebanon, N.H.) scored his first collegiate goal. Ryder Valinski (Portsmouth, N.H.) threw the ball in from the left sideline and Xavier Lloyd (Somers, N.Y.) headed it to Adams, who spun and fired for the goal.
Sebastian Derby scored back-to-back goals 20 minutes apart in the second half to give Amherst a 3-1 advantage, and the Mammoths extended their lead to three goals in the 79
th minute off a free-kick that was poked in by Andrew Barkidjija.
The Pilgrims scored one final goal in the 87
th minute when
Nalen Dias (Londonderry, N.H.) booted a ball that bounced off an Amherst defender right to the foot of Anthony Nardi (Williamsburg, Mass.) who sailed it in for his first collegiate goal.
GOALKEEPERS
NEC's Dylan Mix (Charlestown, N.H.) faced 14 shots on the day and made 10 saves, while Amherst's Bernie White recorded eight saves. The Mammoths outshot the Pilgrims 37-15 on the day.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Southern Vermont College for a 1:00 p.m. New England Collegiate Conference start. The game marks the first of a three-game road series for the Pilgrims.
