Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. Babson College men's lacrosse attack Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) finished with four goals leading the Beavers past the New England College Pilgrims 16-5 Wednesday evening.
With the win the Beavers improve to 7-5 overall, while the loss snaps a nine game winning streak for the Pilgrims who fall to 9-2 on the season.
Babson's Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) would open the scoring four minutes into the opening quarter as he would post back-to-back scores within 30 seconds of each other. NEC would cut the lead to 2-1 just 30 second later as
Pat Miles (Brampton, Ontario) would fire in an unassisted goal recording his sixth goal of the season.
Babson would tack on three additional opening quarter goals, including a man-up goal by Kyle Barsalou (Longmeadow, Mass.), building their lead to 5-1. The Beavers would continue their offensive onslaught in the second quarter as they would notch three quick scores extending their lead to 8-1 at the 11:35 mark. The two teams would exchange a pair of goals over the final 11 minutes as Babson would head into the intermission up 10-3.
NEC's
Nick Herzog (Hampstead, N.H.) would net the first goal of the second half but Babson would score the next two goals and close out the game on a 4-0 run en route to the eventual 16-5 victory.
Babson's Kyle Baralou finished the game with three goals and an assist, while Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) finished with a goal and three assists. Leading the Beaver defense was Christian Cattaruzz (Guilford, Conn.) who picked up seven ground balls and caused four turnovers.
NEC's
Pat Miles finished with a goal, an assist and 10 ground balls for the Pilgrims.
Babson finished the game outshooting NEC 44-37 and held the 34-27 advantage in ground balls. Babson was 2-for-6 in man-up opportunities, while the Pilgrims were 1-for-5 with the extra-man.
Picking up the win in net for Babson was Adam Daroff (Pepper Pike, Ohio) who posted eight saves on the afternoon. In net for NEC was Chris Galluzo (New London, N.H.) who turned away 13 Beaver shots.
NEC returns to action on Saturday, April 12 when they travel to take on North Atlantic Conference foe Maine Maritime Academy. Babson will hit the field again on Saturday, April 12 when they host NEWMAC opponent Emerson College.
