HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College Men's Lacrosse suffered a 15-1 defeat to Rivier University on Wednesday night. Freshman Owen Taylor (Lanesborough, Mass.) scored and junior Nate Finn (Norwood, Mass.) made 15 saves for the Pilgrims.
The Raiders got four shots off on a strong Pilgrims defensive effort in the first quarter where Rivier scored once through the first fifteen minutes. After doubling the lead early in the second, the Raiders got up 8-0 by the end of the first half.
The Pilgrims defense showed more fight as they held Rivier to five shots in the third quarter, where they only allowed one goal. After falling behind 12-0, Taylor got through two defenders in front of the net and threw a shot behind his shoulder to get the Pilgrims on the board.
Graduate Evan Zonderman (Dracut, Mass.), won eight faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls.
The Pilgrims are back in action on Saturday as they head down to New London, Connecticut to take on the Mitchell College Mariners at 3:00 PM.
