Box Score Henniker, N.H.- New England College men's soccer would score three second half goals en route to the 4-1 victory over the visiting Rivier College Raiders Wednesday evening.
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 4-3-1 overall, while the loss drops the Raiders to 1-4-1 on the season.
The two teams would battle through the opening 30 minutes scoreless before NEC's
Sebastian Andersson (Sundyberg, Sweden) would break the drought netting his third goal of the game rebounding in a
Rob Lucas (Hooksett, N.H.) shot.
NEC would have an opportunity to extend their lead to 2-0 late in the half but a header by
Julian Yourawski (Peabody, Mass.) would sail just wide of the net holding the Pilgrims to the 1-0 halftime lead.
The Pilgrims would grab the lead in the 57th minute of play as first-year defender
Alfred Agnew (Barrington, N.H.) would dribble around a Raider defender and sneak a shot in the lower right of the goal recording his first collegiate goal.
NEC would extend their lead to 3-0 in the 61st minute of play as
Andrew Mead would slip a pass through the middle and first-year forward
Rizy Misiri (Concord, N.H.) would connect with his third goal of the season.
The Raiders would get a goal back in the 67th minute as Alex Armstrong (Wakefield, R.I.) would put in a loose ball that had deflected off a Pilgrim defender.
NEC would tack on an additional score in the final minutes of play as
Manny Arteaga (Norwalk, Conn.) would head in his third goal of the season thanks to a nice pass from
Austin Boisvert (Tyngsboro, Mass.).
Picking up the win in net for NEC was
Mark Nowak (Newburgh, N.Y.) who recorded one save on the evening. In net for Rivier was Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) who collected an impressive nine saves.
NEC returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they travel to take on conference opponent Lyndon State College. Rivier will hit the field again on Saturday, Sept. 12 as well when they host conference for Emmanuel College.
