Kolb Leads Pilgrims to First Victory of the Season

Henniker, N.H.— New England College forward Aaron Kolb (New Durham, N.H.) would net the game-winner early in the opening half leading NEC past visiting Elms College 1-0 Saturday afternoon. With the win the Pilgrims even their overall record at 1-1, while the loss drops the Blazers to 0-1 on the season.

NEC's Kolb would get the Pilgrims on the board early as he would convert on a penalty kick just 12:46 into the opening half. The two teams would battle through the remainder of the opening half scoreless as each team would record two shots.

The two teams would continue to battle back-and-forth through much of the second half. Elms would put on the pressure late as Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) would fire a shot on net in the 88th minute but NEC keeper Pat Harkin (Situate, R.I.) would come up with a huge save.

Harkin picked up the win in goal for the Pilgrims finishing the game with five saves. Elms College's Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) finished the game with six saves. The Pilgrims outshot the Blazers 16-8 on the afternoon.

New England College returns to action on Thursday, September 9 when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Rivier College. Elms College will travel to take on Emmanuel College Wednesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m..
