Quincy, Mass. - New England College men's soccer played Eastern Nazarene College to a 2-2 tie Tuesday evening in Quincy. With the tie the Pilgrims move to 5-4-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference play, while the Crusaders move to 0-11-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the conference.
The Pilgrims would strike early as senior
Aaron Benedetti (Rehoboth, Mass.) would break through the Crusader defense and score and unassisted goal just 2:05 into the opening half. Eastern Nazarene would respond quickly as Chris Scearbo would put in a cross from Jonathan Corbin just nine minutes later knotting the game at 1-1.
Eastern Nazarene would grab the lead early in the second half of play as Scearbo would strike again scoring his fourth goal of the season unassisted at the 47:55 mark. NEC's
Kagan Sinclair (Marblehead, Mass.) would tie the game at 2-2 in the 62nd minute as he would net his team-high fifth goal of the season assisted by
Peter Koskores (N. Andover, Mass.)
The two teams would battle through the remainder of the second half and two overtimes scoreless as the Pilgrims would finish the game out shooting the Crusaders 26-19, including six shots in overtime.
In net for NEC was
Pat Harkin (Scitutate, R.I.) who finished the game with five saves. In net for Eastern Nazarene was Andrew Trice who recorded 10 saves.
