Nashua, N.H. - Senior
Kagan Sinclair's (Marblehead, Mass.) unassisted goal with 31:35 remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner as the New England College men's soccer team shut out host Daniel Webster, 1-0 in a regional matchup Monday at Eagle Field.
Sinclair knocked in an indirect rebound of his initial shot that was stopped by Eagle sophomore keeper Joe Keene (Bristol, N.H.). The ball ricocheted off an Eagle defender directly back to Sinclair, who buried a low 10-yarder to the left corner.
The win halted Daniel Webster's program and all-time school record seven-game win streak as they moved to 7-3 overall. New England College halted a three-game winless streak and evened its mark at 6-6-1.
The Eagles struggled to generate an offensive rhythm all afternoon, managing nine total shots but only two would test Pilgrim junior net minder
Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.), who would register his second shutout of the season.
The Pilgrims kept Keene busy in the opening half, putting five shots on goal but Keene sparkled, finishing with nine stops on the day.
NEC walked away with a 15-9 total shots advantage on the afternoon.
The Eagles close out their three-game home stand Thursday as they host former GNAC rival Emerson in a regional contest kicking off at 3:30 p.m.
