HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College alpine ski team competed in the Clarkson Carnival over the weekend held at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, New York, as the team continues through its' first season back in the MacConnell Division.
NEC senior Robert Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) was the lone finisher for the men in the slalom on Saturday, finishing in 71st place with a time of 1:54.79.
Junior Hogan Bemis (Stow, Maine) brushed off a DNF in the slalom on Saturday to represent the team in the giant slalom on Sunday with a 48th place finish. Bemis had runs of 1:08.69 and 1:15.28 to finish 19.84 seconds off the lead with a combined 2:23.97.
In the women's slalom on Saturday, sophomore Lorelei Holloway (Ashland, Va.) placed 45th with a total time of 2:08.75. In the giant slalom on Sunday, Holloway placed 52nd as she crossed the finish line in a combined time of 3:09.49.
The Pilgrims are set to return to the Empire State next weekend as they head to West Mountain in Queensbury, New York, for the Vermont State University Castleton Carnival. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature the Giant Slalom with runs beginning around 9:00 AM each day.
