HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's wrestling team took home the King of the Mountain trophy, defeating in-state rival Plymouth State University on Wednesday evening at Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire.
SENIOR DAY

Prior to the match, the New England College men's wrestling program and the NEC athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. The duo of senior Wyatt Gentile (Sunset Beach, N.C.) and senior Boburjon Berdiyorov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members, and fans for all of their accomplishments at NEC both on and off the mat. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- NEC got off to a quick start at 141 pounds as junior Caden Frost (Steep Falls, Maine) pinned Cam McMahon (East Hampstead, N.H.) in a brisk 32 seconds to put the 'Grims up 6-0 early.
- Berdiyorov, competing on his senior day, defeated Plymouth's Damari Goldsmith-Greene (Whitman, Mass.) in the 149-pound weight class, winning by way of pinfall (3:17).
- Sophomore Andrew Piedrahita (Westford, Mass.) won the 'Grims third consecutive matchup, downing Nick Antonucci (Windham, N.H.) at 157 pounds by a 10-1 decision.
- Plymouth would get on the board at 165 as Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) defeated junior Joseph Gangi (Methuen, Mass.) by fall (1:28).
- Up 16-6, junior Zach Soda (Burlington, Mass.) would dominate Robert Tarasuk (Hampton, N.H.) at 174, winning by technical fall at a score of 19-4 to put NEC up 21-6.
- PSU's Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.) defeated NEC freshman Dominic DeMaio (Methuen, Mass.) by pinfall at 3:22 to bring the Panthers within nine points, 21-12.
- Junior Josh Bean (Londonderry, N.H.) stunned Plymouth's Luke Murphy (Salem, N.H.), pinning the sophomore in just seven seconds to earn six more points for the hosts.
- Plymouth's Colin Hile (Walpole, Mass.) would be the beneficiary of an NEC forfeit at 285, earning six free points to make the score 27-18.
- Competing at 125, freshman Dominic Gangi (Methuen, Mass.) would secure the team victory with a 15-0 tech fall win over McMahon.
- Rounding out the dual match at 133, Gentile would fall to Brody McDonald (Salem, N.H.) by pinfall (3:15), however he and his team would take the 32-24 win on senior day.
