Men's wrestler Joseph Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.) will represent New England College at the NCAA Division III Men's Wrestling Championship starting on Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bolduc boasts a 27-6 record on the season, including a regional championship in the beginning of March.
Bolduc started the season with a 6-2 record heading into the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College. He defeated RIC's Jordan DeCosta via tech fall in the first round before taking down David Lisk from WNE in the quarterfinal. In the semis, he faced off against Coast Guard's Landon Kearns where Bolduc came away with a 5-0 victory. He would then go on to beat Kearns' teammate, Thomas Rhodes in the final by a 4-1 decision.
Bolduc went 8-4 in his next 12 matches, including four consecutive wins. He rode a five-match winning streak into the regional tournament where he went 3-0 in day one before finishing the tournament with a 4-1 decision win over Gage Wiggins from Williams in the final.
Bolduc will take on North Central's Jake Luce, who is ranked 16th, in the preliminary round of the NCAA tournament. Wrestling starts at 11:00 AM.
