BRISTOL, R.I. - New England College Men's Wrestling competed in the 2025 Scott Viera Open hosted by Roger Williams University. Junior Brandon Lavasta (Lawrence, Mass.) finished second place in his weight class as he went 4-1 on the day.
Lavasta pinned Maine Maritime's Wyatt Weaver in the round of 32 before defeating Jonathan Howarth from Western New England by technical fall. Lavasta cruised through the quarterfinal with a win by major decision over Springfield's Nick Blitz and a 4-1 decision victory over Jayden Toppan in the semifinal before falling in the final.
Junior Dominic DeMaio (Methuen, Mass.), after a first-round bye, picked up a win by pin in the second round before dropping his next two. Senior Patrick Hughes (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up wins by technical fall and decision in the first two rounds before dropping the next two by decision Junior Michael Follo (Derry, N.H.) went 3-2 on the day with wins by major decision, pin, and technical fall. Freshman Tanner Kamuda (Groveland, Mass.) won two matches, one by pin, and one by decision.
