Box Score

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College women's ice hockey falls in their first game in the Little East Conference (LEC) to the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Friday afternoon.

The Huskies emerged from the start of the game out shooting the Pilgrims 19-10 with seven of them on goal and six saved by sophomore Kayden Lallier-Whissell (Stevensville, Ont.). USM scored three and a half minutes into the period from Madison Chagnon. The team tried to answer back with a shot by freshman Keira Gallacher (Okotoks, Alta.) but was saved by USM. The period ended with a Huskies powerplay.

The second period started with USM winning the faceoff and going five versus three with two 'Grims in the penalty box. After an outpouring of shots on goal, the Huskies were able to extend their lead four and a half minutes into the second period scored by Audrey Donahue.

NEC came out in the third period with two shots taken both by senior Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.). In the middle of the period, USM advanced to make their lead 3-0 and then less than a minute later scored again to go up 4-0, which rounded out the game. The team is headed to Castleton, V.T. tomorrow afternoon for a 1:00 tilt against Vermont State University Castleton.
