Williams’ Double-Double Not Enough for Men’s Basketball at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. – The New England College men's basketball team lost 94-68 at Rivier University on Saturday afternoon at the Muldoon Center in Nashua, New Hampshire in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

TURNING POINTS
  • Down 43-27 at halftime, the 'Grims opened the second half on a 12-6 run capped off with a layup from NEC sophomore center Aiden MacLeod (Wilmington, Mass.) to pull to within ten. But the Raiders pulled away down the stretch and the visitors were unable to threaten again.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC senior guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) continued his outstanding play of late with 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Pilgrims, posting his seventh double-double of the season.
  • Rivier junior guard Matt Constant (Laconia, N.H.) led all scorers with 25 points, making seven three-pointers.
  • NEC senior guard Theisen Lee (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished with 18 points, a season-best.
  • Rivier first-year forward Matt Youngquist (Middleboro, Mass.) finished with 23 points and eight boards, while graduate guard Joey Merrill (Bradford Christian Acad.) posted 19 points and nine rebounds.
  • MacLeod had a career high 11 points with two blocks.
