BANGOR, Maine - The New England College women's volleyball team picked up their first win of the season on Friday evening at Husson University, dropping the Eagles in four sets at the Newman Athletic Gymnasium in Bangor, Maine. Set scores were 25-13, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23 in favor of the Pilgrims.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Grims, hunting for their first win of the season, came out of the gate storming in the first set, hitting .409 with four service aces. NEC and Husson would split the next two sets, setting the stage for a critical fourth set that put the match on the verge of going five when the Eagles took a 23-22 lead. But the Pilgrims would tie it up on a kill by NEC junior middle-blocker Kaylee Montgomery (Weare, N.H.) and two rallies later they would put it away off a kill from freshman outside hitter Deborah Villar (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Serving proved decisive over the course of the match, as NEC held a 9-6 edge in service aces while Husson committed 18 service errors compared to six for the visiting Pilgrims.
- NEC graduate middle-blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) posted her best match of the young season, as she hit .421 with eight kills, four block assists and no attack errors.
- NEC junior outside hitter Lily-Anne Heywood (Derry, N.H.) tallied four service aces to go along with eight digs and five kills.
- Husson freshman outside hitter Kimberly Daniels (Lake City, Fla.) posted 11 kills to lead the Eagles.
- NEC sophomore setter Alexandra Seijas (Fort Myers, Fla.) set the table for the 'Grims, with 17 set assists and a career-high 13 digs.
- Husson freshman outside hitter Mikayla Gray (Rockford, Ill.) added ten kills and nine digs.
- NEC junior defensive specialist Kristina Cardello (Peabody, Mass.) paced the defense with 15 digs.
