Tyler Named Head Coach for NEC Alpine Ski

HENNIKER, N.H. – John Tyler has been named the head coach of the New England College men's and women's alpine ski team in an announcement by the NEC athletics department on Monday.

"We are thrilled to welcome John [Tyler] as our next Alpine Ski coach." NEC Director of Athletics Dave DeCew said in a statement. "His background, experiences, and certifications all speak for themselves.  We can't wait for John to put his own stamp on the storied history of NEC Skiing.  We know that he will bring great energy and a student-centered approach to the slopes."

Tyler brings over 35 years of experience to the position, holding a Level 300 certification from USSS Previous level 3 PSIA certified. He most recently served as an International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) women's head coach at Waterville Valley Academy for two years, and prior to that held the same position at the Okemo Mountain School. He has previously coached at the Mount Snow Academy, the Carrabassett Valley Academy and Henniker's own Pat's Peak Ski Team, the home slope of the Pilgrims.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the NEC Alpine ski team." Tyler said of his appointment. "I am thrilled for the new challenges as we move NEC Alpine forward athletically and competitively.   As I think about this position, it has opened up at a perfect time in my career.  It is time to give back to the ski racing community by being part of the process to create more athletically challenging collegiate opportunities for athletes of the Eastern Region and beyond.   NEC is blessed with an incredible location, literally at the base of our home training venue, Pat's Peak, and intertwined with the classic New England Village of Henniker, and the scenic Contoocook River.  With the support of NEC Athletics, Pat's Peak and our legendary Alumni we have all the tools required to provide athletes an amazing college ski racing career."

Tyler raced collegiately at Vermont State University Johnson, racing at both the EISA and NCAA level.
