HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College graduate
Chris DeRosa (Billerica, Mass.) of the NEC men's wrestling team has been named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week in an announcement by the association on Tuesday.
During Friday evening's home match against the University of Southern Maine, DeRosa – who normally wrestles at the 133-pound class – faced USM sophomore
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine), the number one-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds in the most recent NEWA Conference rankings and the fifth-ranked competitor in the entire nation in the most recent NWCA national polls in the final home meet of DeRosa's career. In arguably the biggest win of his time as a 'Grim, DeRosa won a 3-2 decision.
For the season, DeRosa has a 15-4 record for the best winning percentage on the team.
