HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's basketball team protected home court in dominate fashion as they picked up the win against the Vermont State University Johnson Badgers on Tuesday at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire.
THE BASICS
Score: Vermont State University Johnson 28, New England College 60

HOW IT HAPPENDED
- Scoring in the first quarter of the action was hard to come by as it ended in a 7-9 score with the 'Grims in front by two.
- The second quarter began with a layup scored by sophomore forward Camryn Lewis (Taunton, Mass.). VTSU Johnson Badgers scored three points from the free point line to bring the score within one, 11-10. NEC would pick things back up scoring a consecutive 9 points with 4:15 left. At 2:51 sophomore guard Bailey Burke (New Bedford, Mass.) made both of her free throws and from there on the 'Grims were unable to continue to score. VTSU Johnson gathered four more points before the conclusion of the second half ending 21-16 still in favor of NEC.
- Things would take a drastic turn in favor of the 'Grims as they recorded an astonishing 26 points while at the same time presenting themselves as a defensive force allowing three points to be scored by the Badgers. The teams largest run of the quarter consisted of executing a 11-point run. NEC scored the last nine points of the quarter establishing a 28-point lead over the Badgers, 47-19.
- NEC's defense continued to be the foundation of the team in the final quarter of play allowing nine points smothering VTSU Johnson providing little opportunity to come back in this game as the Badgers scored nine points. Resulting in a convincing win for the 'Grims on the evening, 60-28.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior guard Amya Moss (Norfolk, Va.) played well for the team ending with 13 points, four rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
- NEC junior forward Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) had a solid outing putting up 13 points and grabbed a season high of nine rebounds.
- NEC junior forward Ajayah Lively (Victorville, Calif.) also accounted for nine rebounds.
- VTSU Johnson senior forward Riann Fortin (Newport, Vt.) performed the best for the Badgers recording 10 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one block.
- NEC managed to make the most out of their bench as they scored 29 points as opposed to VTSU Johnson who ended with 12 points.
- Points in the paint were in favor of the 'Grims, 30-14.
