TURNING POINTS
  • The first half proved to be a very competitive outing as both teams would trade blows and was knotted up at 11-11 with 13:02 on the clock. LC managed to obtain a quick 7-0 run off a pair of three pointers made by junior guard Tarell Joseph (Hempstead, N.Y.), 17-11. NEC would claw their way back into the game as senior guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) got into the lane for a layup and made a free throw to bring them within five, 19-14. LC had no choice but to call a timeout at 6:52 as the 'Grims began to show signs of life going on a 6-0 run, 23-20. After the timeout the Grim's would continue to surge gaining a lead over the Lynx off a made layup by sophomore guard Shawn O'Keefe (Salem, Mass.), 25-23.
  • After the Lynx were able to stretch the lead into their favor by four sophomore guard Mike Strazzeri (Chichester, N.H.) cashed in on a jump shot that helped bring NEC to within two, 29-27 with 2:23 remaining. From there LC could only tack on four more points as the defense of NEC did their part. The offense of the 'Grims scored the last three points of the half credited to Strazzeri on a layup and Williams connecting on one of his free throws, 33-30 still in favor of the Lynx.
  • Free throws proved to be a factor as the 'Grims were 6-for-12 from the charity strip and the Lynx were a perfect 4-for-4.
  • A similar start commenced in the second half of action with both teams trading blows. At 15:11 the Lynx were firing on all cylinders scoring 16 points over the 'Grims. During that time LC went on an 8-0 run that concluded with the 'Grims calling a timeout as they could only score seven points, 49-37. The timeout proved to be beneficial as NEC sophomore center Aiden MacLeod (Wilmington, Mass.) found freshman guard Josh Robie (Bethlehem, N.H.) from behind the arc to get the 'Grims back on track, 50-40. NEC Williams would go on a tear for the 'Grims providing the team a fighting chance scoring the next 10 points of the game that brought them back to within four, 54-50.
  • LC would find a way to respond with an 8-0 run as they continue to have an answer to what the 'Grims have thrown at them, 63-50. The scoring for the Lynx would continue to occur frequently and often. Even after the free throws NEC were rewarded began to fall didn't seem to faze the Lynx. The last attempt was made by Williams at 1:38 with the score at 76-62 leaving the 'Grims with no time to come up with an answer. Ending a road win for the Lynx on the evening, 79-66.
