HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College senior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) of the NEC men's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on October 6th.
Walker recorded his third shutout of the season on Wednesday night with a season-high 11 saves in a 0-0 draw against Johnson & Wales. The Wildcats entered the contest unbeaten in conference play at 6-0, but Walker and co. handed them their first blemish of the season with the tie. Walker made several highlight key saves late in the second half, including four in the final minutes, to preserve the 0-0 score. This was just the second time all season that JWU had been held scoreless.
Walker joins sophomore Lukas Tate (South Jordan, Utah) as the team's second recipient of Goalkeeper of the Week honors this season. The duo has combined for five shutouts and 65 saves through 11 games, and both currently rank inside the top 5 in the GNAC in save percentage.
