Box Score BOSTON, M.A. - The New England College women's volleyball team was defeated at Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday at Jean Yawkey Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims were able to get to a quick 4-1 lead to start the first set with kills from senior outside hitter Savannah Pilialoha (Waipahu, Hawaii) and sophomore outside hitter Samantha Winters (Dover, N.H.), alongside a service ace from junior outside hitter Lily-Anne Heywood (Derry, N.H.).
- NEC would get up to a six-point lead until the Saints caught up to surge back on a 9-2 run to take the lead. Both teams would go back and forth until Emmanuel finished the set with four straight points, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Letitia Bossou. The teams would battle throughout a tough second set, with the Saints taking it 25-20.
- The third set was started by multiple runs by the Pilgrims. After being down 7-4, the Pilgrims would find life as they would capitalize on errors from the Saints, alongside two kills from graduate middle-blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii) and a service ace from sophomore libero Alyssa Dunbar-Molina (Las Cruces, N.M.) to make it 7-7.
- The two teams would trade punches until Emmanuel came out in the end with the four-set victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Pilialoha and Winters combined for 21 kills in the defeat for the Pilgrims. Isabella Marquez led the game with 20.
- Gutierrez-Macias, Heywood, and Dunbar-Molina all had two service aces apiece, to the Saints' 10.
- Digs were evenly spread out as the Pilgrims were able to edge the Saints in that stat with 69 to their 68. Junior defensive specialist Kristina Cardello (Peabody, Mass.), Dunbar-Molina, and Heywood combined for 52.
- Junior middle-blocker Kaylee Montgomery (Weare, N.H.) led the Pilgrims in hitting percentage, going .333.
- Emmanuel's Marquez led the match with 20 kills on 45 attempts, with only three errors to lead the match in hitting percentage as well.
