Henniker, N.H.- The New England College men's hockey team scored big on senior day against visiting University of Southern Maine, on Saturday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, the Pilgrims opened with a 1-0 lead off a goal from senior forward Alex LaPlante (Londonderry, N.H.) with assists from graduate forward Bernie McGovern (Medford, Mass.) and freshman defenseman Hunter Meyer (Anchorage, Ala.).
- After trailing behind, the Huskies came back to score on a power play by Senior forward Judd Curtis(Newton, Mass.) and was assisted by Senior defensemen Nolan McElhaney (Natick, Mass.) and Sophomore forward Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, Quebec).
- The Grims came back excited in the third period with a quick goal on a powerplay by senior forward Chris Lee (Rapid City, S.D.) and was assisted by freshman forward Manny Cabral (Providence, R.I.) and junior defenseman Zach Nelson (Hudson, Mass.).
- The Pilgrims topped of their senior day with a big goal from sophomore forward Wyatt Andres(Brainerd, Minn.) with assists from senior defenseman JP Chauvin (Massena, N.Y.) and senior goalie Andrew Kormos (Milford, Mich.). When the final horn sounded, NEC walked away with a 3-1 victory in celebration of their 2023 seniors.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kormos tallied 34 saves for the Pilgrims in the win.
- USM sophomore Goalie Mason Palmer (Cumming, Geo.) finished with 32 saves.
- The Pilgrims and Huskies tied with 35 shots each.

- Up next for NEC, the 'Grims look to start a winning streak when they travel to Elmira college on Friday for another NEHC contest.
