PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The New England College men's ice hockey team lost 9-1 at Elmira College on Friday night at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, New York in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first four minutes were brutal for the Pilgrims, as the Eagles picked up goals from senior forward Larry Niland (Lido Beach, N.Y.), junior forward Ryan Reifler (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior forward Shawn Kennedy (Bainsville, Ont.) to go up 3-0 just 3:52 into the game. Kennedy scored his second goal of the game with 2:23 left in the first to go up by a commanding score of 4-0.
- Down 8-0 with 3:32 left in the second period, the Pilgrims finally got on the board when NEC senior forward Jhuwon Davis (Detriot, Mich.) scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by junior forward Anthony Cinato (Warren, Mich.) and freshman forward Graham Hassan (Howell, Mich.).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC junior goalie Kai Tomita (Misawa, Japan), seeing the ice for the first time in his collegiate career, entered the game in relief and was brilliant for the 'Grims, stopping 20 of 21 shots in 25 minutes.
- Elmira freshman goalie Kyle Curtin (St. George, Ont.) finished with 23 saves.
- Kennedy finished with a hat trick for the Eagles.
- Elmira held a 44-24 advantage in shots.
