HENNIKER, N.H. – Freshman forward
Alexis Hornsby (Atkinson, N.H.) of the New England College women's ice hockey team has been named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Rookie of the Week for the wee ending on December 3
rd, 2023, in an announcement by the conference on Monday.
Hornsby exploded this week with four goals and two assists over three games, leading NEC to a pair of wins over the Trailblazers of MCLA on Friday and Saturday. Hornsby scored a pair of goals with an assist in each game, powering the 'Grims to a 7-3 victory at home on Friday and a 5-1 triumph on Saturday at MCLA.
At press time, the standout rookie was leading the Pilgrims in goals (six) and points (nine).
It is Hornsby's second consecutive NEHC Rookie of the Week award, as she was also recognized last week for the week ending November 26
th.
NEC is back on the ice on Saturday, December 9th when they host the Lancers of Worcester State University at the Lee Clement Arena before the long winter break. Puck-drop is set for 3:00 PM.
