HENNIKER, N.H. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the Division III All-Region Teams on Wednesday morning. These All-Region teams are designed to recognize the student-athletes that represent the highest level of field hockey players all around the country.
Division III teams are separated into six regions, with each of these regions recognizing no more than 16 student-athletes on both the first team and second team. Three members of the New England College Field Hockey team were named to the Region I Second Team: Junior back
Taylor Bailey (Boscawen, N.H.), graduate forward
Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.), and graduate midfielder
Mikayla Vincent (Newburyport, Mass.).
Bailey was a defensive leader for the 'Grims this year, dominating in the middle of the field. Teams were always aware of where Bailey was on the field, and the junior from Boscawen, New Hampshire often prevented opposing offenses from imposing pressure on the NEC back-line. Bailey also left her mark on the offensive side of the field, scoring one goal and making four assists on the season.
Chin was the team's leading scorer on the offensive-end, pacing the team with 17 goals. She was placing pressure on opposing defenses all season long, also leading the team with 134 shots and 81 shots on goal. The graduate student also added 10 assists while rounding out her prolific season with two defensive saves. This was Chin's third straight season being named to the All-Region Second Team.
Vincent had the strongest season of her career in 2023, acting as the team's undisputed leader and being a steady presence all across the field. The midfielder was a force on offense, recording 16 goals and 14 assists, while also getting back and supporting the defense. Vincent's 14 assists placed her in a tie for fourth-most in all of Division III.
"These three athletes are well deserving of this honor," said Head Coach
Carly Sweeney. "This honor reflects what Drea, Mikayla, and Taylor gave to this field hockey program during the fall season and that was their everything. As a team, we couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments."
Congratulations to the three student-athletes on this great honor.
