HENNIKER, N.H. – Fresh off claiming the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship in not only the history of the program but in the history of the school, the New England College men's golf team official saw two of their star players official recognized with GNAC All-Conference honors.
 
Junior Timothy Carlson (Albany, N.Y.), having earned All Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) honors last season, led the 'Grims to the championship on Tuesday, finishing in second place in individual competition with a 16 over par, clinching First Team All-GNAC accolades. Carlson was brilliant on Tuesday, leading all golfers with a 75.
 
Sophomore Graham Hassan (Pinckney, Mich.), the 2022-2023 MASCAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman, also earned All-GNAC First Team accolades as a sophomore, finishing the Championships at 21 over par, tied for fifth place in the individuals. Hassan overcame a slow start on Monday to post a 77 on Tuesday, storming up the GNAC leaderboard.
 
Head coach Travis Banga (Class of 2004) was voted GNAC Coach of the Year by his peers, having achieved the incredible feat of leading a program to a conference championship in just the third year since its reintroduction. Banga sent a lineup of five into the GNACs that saw all five Pilgrims rank in the top 22 among the participants at the event.
 
NEC sophomore Kam Hellman (Macomb, Mich.) was named to the GNAC Sportsmanship Team. Hellman produced one of the best rounds of his collegiate career on Monday, as his 78 ranked second among all golfers.
 
With their victory, the team qualifies for the NCAA Championships in May. Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding run!
