Sheedy, Elias Earn GNAC All-Conference Recognition

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College men's golf team came in third at the 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship, with two Pilgrims earning conference postseason honors. Senior Cameron Sheedy (Nashua, N.H.) earned a spot on the GNAC All-Conference First Team, while sophomore Emil Elias (Ekerö, Sweden) was named to the Second Team.

Sheedy remained in contention throughout the championship after carding a 76 (+5) in Monday's opening round. The senior opened Tuesday's second round with a pair of double bogeys before bouncing back with birdies on two of his final three holes on the front nine, shooting a team-best 38 on the opening nine. Sheedy finished the round with an 81 (+10) to place fifth overall and earn First Team All-Conference honors.

The senior capped off a strong season after competing in five of NEC's sic tournaments. Sheedy recorded three top 10 finishes and earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll recognition for the week of September 21 before being named GNAC Golfer of the Week on October 5. He averaged 76.375 in eight rounds.

Elias entered Tuesday's final round in fifth place after shooting a 77 (+6) on Monday, improving by one stroke from his opening-round score at last year's championship. The sophomore recorded a 42 on the back nine and finished the round with an 83, including eight pars and one birdie. Elias finished tied for ninth at 18-over par to earn a spot on the GNAC All-Conference Second Team.

Elias enjoyed a breakout sophomore season, competing in five of NEC's six tournaments and earning two individual victories. His first win came at the NEC Invitational, where he defeated Aiden Boule in a playoff. He also recorded two additional top 10 finishes and earned back-to-back GNAC Golfer of the Week honors. Elias finished the season, averaging 75.5 strokes per round.

Freshman Edouard Belval-Turmel (Quebec, Canada) earned a spot on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The freshman carded rounds of 79 and 84 at the championship and finished his rookie season, averaging 81 strokes per round.
