Travis Banga has been the head coach of the New England College men's golf team since April of 2020. Banga has also served as the assistant coach of the NEC men's ice hockey team since the 2011-2012 season.

Banga has led the Pilgrims to back-to-back-back NCAA Championship appearances in 2024, 2025, and 2026 after winning the GNAC Championships in three consecutive seasons. Banga was named the GNAC Coach of the Year twice (2024, 2025).

In 2025-26, the Pilgrims returned to the NCAA Championships after earning five more first-place finishes including the third straight GNAC title. Two 'Grims under Banga were named to the GNAC First Team All-Conference. In the 2024-2025 athletic year, the Banga-led men's golf team secured eight first place victories including a 26-stroke win at the GNAC Championships. Four Pilgrims earned All-Conference honors. The 2023-2024 team earned four first-place finishes on their way to their first NCAA Championships bid in program history. 

Banga, a 2004 graduate of NEC, was a two-time First Team All-American for the men's ice hockey team. In 2004, Banga was honored with NEC's Parmenter Award presented at commencement to a graduating male senior for his outstanding athletic ability and sportsmanship.  He was inducted into the NEC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
