HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's ice hockey team lost 11-0 to visiting Norwich University on Friday evening at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The top-scoring team in the NEHC wasted no time getting on the board as Norwich senior forward Ingrid Holstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway) scored her fourth goal of the season just 1:41 into the game, assisted by junior forward Ally LaGue (Barre, Vt.).
- The visitors went ahead 2-0 when Norwich freshman defender Emma Morel (Tournon, France) scored her second goal of the year with 12:51 to go in the opening period, assisted by junior forward Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and junior defender Nikki LaGue (Barre, Vt.).
- The Cadets made it 3-0 to close out the opening period when Norwich senior forward Mikah Baptiste(Ottawa, Ontario) – the leading scorer for the Cadets and the eighth-leading scorer in the nation – scored her NEHC-leading 16th goal of the season with 11:16 to go in the first, assisted by junior forward Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec).
- Just 3:01 into the second, Norwich capitalized on a power play when Baptiste scored her second goal of the evening, assisted by Headland and senior forward Ann-Frederique Guay (St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec) to make it 4-0.
- 34 seconds later the Cadet lead increased to five when sophomore forward Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick) put in a putback off a shot from sophomore forward Carly Gout (Bobcaygeon, Ontario) for her first goal of the season.
- The Cadets closed out the second with goals from Guay, Reynolds and sophomore forward Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.), going into the second intermission with an 8-0 lead.
- In the third period, Norwich scored their ninth goal of the night when Ally Lague found the back of the net with 15:28 left in the game.
- With 1:17 remaining in the game and a nine-goal lead, Headland scored her eighth goal of the season to make it 10-0. Finally, with 37.7 to go, Jackson scored her second goal of the season for the final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) tallied 27 saves between the pipes for the Pilgrims in a valiant effort. Senior goalie Sean D'urso (Andover, Mass.) took over in relief and finished with nine saves.
- Norwich junior goalie Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) recorded 12 stops for the Cadets.
- Norwich outshot NEC, 47-12.
UP NEXT
- NEC and Norwich have a quick turnaround as they'll be back on the ice again on Saturday when they travel to Northfield, Vermont for a 3:00 p.m. game hosted by the Cadets.
