Fisher Rallies Past Women's Volleyball in Four

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team lost in four sets to visiting Fisher College on Tuesday evening at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Pilgrims dominated in the first set, closing out with a 13-4 run capped off with freshman setter Aurora Gutierrez-Macias (El Paso, Tex.) holding serve on the final three rallies.
  • The Falcons stormed back in the second and third sets. NEC was poised to tie it in the fourth set where they led by as much as five and had a 21-18 lead. But Fisher reeled off seven straight including sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) holding serve on the final six.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC senior middle blocker Livia Elfering (Parker, Colo.) had her best match of the season with 10 kills and three total blocks.
  • Fisher senior outside hitter Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the Falcons with 13 kills and 13 digs.
  • NEC freshman defensive specialist Krissy Cardello (Peabody, Mass.) had her best match with a team-high 19 digs.
  • Velazquez setup the Fisher offense with 33 set assists and four aces.
  • NEC junior setter Arianna Blaize Llamas (Honolulu, Hawaii) added 24 set assists with 15 digs.
  • NEC junior right-side blocker McKenzie DeBaca (Longview, Tex.) lead both sides in blocks, recording four, and had eight kills in the matchup.
  • NEC is now 5-10 all-time against Fisher.

UP NEXT

  • NEC is back on the court on Thursday when they travel to Wellesley College for a 6:00 p.m. match.
  • Fisher travels to the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. double-header.
