Men's Ice Hockey Falls in OT at No. 7 Babson, 5-4

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The New England College Men's Ice Hockey team could not complete the comeback, as they fall to No. 7 Babson College, 5-4 in overtime in New England Hockey Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 Babson was able to start strong, as Paul Boutoussov was able to strike twice in the opening 20 minutes. His first goal was scored a 14:27, as he converted on the power play, before scoring three minutes later at even-strength.

In the second period, the Pilgrims responded. Alex LaPlante got NEC on the board with his 15th of the year, which came on the powerplay before Connor Inger tied the game with 32 seconds remaining in the middle frame.

The Beavers opened up the third period with a pair of goals, as Mike Egan scored on the powerplay before Thomas Kramer gave the hosts a 4-2 lead at 7:59. New England College would not let up, as Chris Maratea got NEC within one with his shot from the point finding its way through the traffic. In the final minute of regulation, Inger struck again, as he scored with 37 seconds showing on the game clock to send the game to overtime.

In the extra session, both teams had scoring opportunities, but following an NEC rush, Ryan Black was able to score the OT winner on a breakaway.
