ELMIRA, N.Y. – The New England College Men's Ice Hockey season comes to a close, as the Pilgrims fell to No. 6 nationally-ranked Elmira College in the New England Hockey Conference Quarterfinals, Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After New England College controlled the early portion of the first period, the Soaring Eagles were the first team to score. Janis Visbelis put Elmira on the board with a powerplay goal at the 15:22 marker. Right before the final minute of the opening period, Jake Russo put the host up 2-0.
Shawn Kennedy made it 3-0 Elmira at the 4:30 marker in the second period before Ryan Reifler pushed it to 4-0 at 14:11. Connor Inger got New England College on the board, as he scored right after the Bernie McGovern faceoff win. Vizbelis picked up his second man-up goal to cap off the middle period.
In the third period, the Pilgrims could not close the gap, as Elmira connected on two more powerplay scores to extend their lead to 7-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Andrew Kormos and Spencer Kozlowski recorded 39 saves in the crease for NEC.
- Elmira outshot the Pilgrims 46-34.
- The Soaring Eagles were 4-of-6 on the powerplay, while NEC was 0-of-2.
