HOW IT HAPPENED
Elmira College started the game fast, as they outshot the Pilgrims 15-8 in the opening 20 minutes. Chance Gorman got the scoring started with an even-strength goal at 11:54 before Janis Visbelis doubled the Soaring Eagles' advantage with a power-play goal at 14:26. New England College broke through with two minutes before the first intermission, as Connor Inger potted his 10th score of the year.
Elmira's Adam Eby was the only skater to find the back of the net in the second period, as he did so at 15:20. Elmira would carry a 3-1 advantage into the third period.
In the third period, Ryan Reifler added an insurance goal at 14:52, expanding the Soaring Eagles' lead to 4-1. New England College would not go quietly, as Jacob Hedencrona collected his first collegiate goal. The Pilgrims would not cut into the deficit within one, as they eventually fell 4-2.
