BOSTON, Mass. – The New England College women's basketball team concluded their 2022 calendar year with a 68-65 loss at the University of Massachusetts Boston on Monday evening at the Clark Athletic Center in Boston in non-conference action.

TURNING POINTS
- Trailing for most of the night, the Pilgrims saw themselves go down 47-36 with 44 seconds left in the third quarter. A 10-3 run capped off with a three-pointer from freshman guard Macy Gordon(Boscawen, N.H.) with 8:45 left in the fourth saw NEC climb to within four. Down ten with 5:56 to go, the 'Grims would again rally, pulling to within one off a three from freshman guard Mackenzie McDonald (Boscawen, N.H.) with five seconds left, 66-65. Down three after two Beacon free throws, NEC had one last chance to send it to overtime, but McDonald's three was off the mark and the game ended with an 'L'.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC junior center Kathleen Rodriguez (McFarlane, Cali.) led the 'Grims with 14 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
- UMB graduate forward Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
- Gordon came off the bench to score 11 points in just 18 minutes.
- UMB junior forward Sunny Green (Brewster, Mass.) scored 14 points with six boards.
- NEC senior forward Ericka Pratt (Miami, Fla.), the reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, added nine points and six boards.

- Up next for NEC, the team enters their well-deserved break. But they will return to action on Saturday, January 7th as they travel to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) for a 2:00 p.m. game.
