The 'Grims shot the ball in the first half well, hitting 63.0 percent of their attempts, but the Firebirds made more baskets with a 68.8 percentage and a nine-point lead going into the half.

NEC tried to narrow that lead in the second half, including efforts from the bench with 27 points. But Carthage maintained their lead on the Pilgrims through the final moments.

Junior forwards Alex Jean (Peabody, Mass.) and Nick Gomeau (Enfield, Conn.) lead the 'Grims in rebounds in the contest, with three.

Junior forward Anthony Bernero (Kenosha, Wisc.) went five for five, shooting 100 percent from the field and recorded six assists and five rebounds in the game.

The Pilgrims went 30 for 57 (52.6%) from the field and 13 for 20 (65%) on the line throughout the matchup.
