HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's basketball team won their first game of the season with a 64-55 victory over visiting Rivier University on Tuesday evening at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in non-conference action.

TURNING POINTS
- The 'Grims took a 33-28 lead into halftime, only to watch the Raiders slowly chip away in the second half. With 8:59 remaining in the game, Rivier took their first lead of the night off a three-pointer from senior guard Nikolas Pignone (Stoneham, Mass.) to go up 47-46, all part of an 8-2 run.
- NEC came charging back, however, embarking on a 13-2 run capped off by two free throws from freshman point guard Kamdyn Ayers (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) to go ahead 59-51 with 1:23 left in the game.
- With 56.5 seconds remaining and the 'Grims clinging to six point lead, NEC sophomore guard Alex Williams (Miramar, Fla.) found freshman guard Khalon Taylor (Tuscon, Ariz.) right under the basket on an inbounds pass and the rookie made the reverse layup. 15 seconds later, Williams would block a Rivier shot attempt, icing the game for the home team.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC junior guard Kyle Inglis (Burlington, Mass.) led all scorers with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in one of his best all-around games of the season.
- Pignone led the Raiders with 12 points and six rebounds.
- Williams dominated underneath with a game-high twelve boards to go along with eight points and four assists.
- Rivier freshman guard Robenson Baguidy (Goffstown, N.H.) added ten points with four assists for the Raiders.
- Taylor finished with ten points off the bench for the 'Grims.
- NEC is now 12-13 all-time against Rivier, with a chance to go up in the series next year when they join the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
UP NEXT
- Up next for NEC, the team gets a week off before returning to action next Tuesday, November 29th, when they host Colby-Sawyer College at 7:30 p.m.
- Rivier hosts UMass Boston next Wednesday in a 7:00 p.m. game.
