Women’s Basketball Cruises to First Victory of the Season

CASTLETON, Vt. – The New England College women's basketball team dominated UMaine-Farmington to collect their first win of the season on Saturday at Glenbrook Gym in Castleton, Vermont in nonconference action.

TURNING POINTS

  • The Pilgrims took control of the game early, outscoring the Beavers 35-18 in the first half, including a 12-0 NEC run in the second quarter.
  • New England College never looked back, again outscoring UMaine-Farmington in the second half en route to a 20-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC was led by a pair of double doubles from junior center Kathleen Rodriguez (McFarlane, Cali.) and senior forward Ericka Pratt (Miami, Fla.). Rodriguez led all scorers with 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds while Pratt added 11 points and 15 boards.
  • Senior guard Asia Jones (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and freshman guard Macy Gordon (Boscawen, N.H.) each hit a pair of 3-pointers for the 'Grims.
  • NEC held UMaine-Farmington to shooting just 28.6% from the field.
  • The Pilgrims won the battle on the boards, massively outrebounding the Beavers 61-34.
  • With the win, NEC tied up the all-time series with UMaine-Farmington at 1-1.
