BOXSCORE

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's ice hockey team picked up their second New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) win of the season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Castleton University on Saturday evening at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS

Records:               Pilgrims 2-3, 2-2 NEHC | Spartans 1-4, 1-1 NEHC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The hotly-contested game was scoreless up until late in the third period when NEC senior forward Alex LaPlante (Londonderry, N.H.) scored his second goal of the season on an unassisted shot to put the 'Grims ahead 1-0.
  • Just a minute and a half later, junior forward Anthony Cinato (Warren, Mich.) gave the Pilgrims some insurance with his second goal of the season, assisted by sophomore forward David Novotny (Delray Beach, Fla.). That would prove to be all NEC would need as they claimed their first league win of the year.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC senior goalie Andrew Kormos (Milford, Mich.) picked up his second straight win between the pipes, tallying 32 saves in the shutout.
  • Castleton senior goalie Brandon Collett (Brockton, Mass.) finished with 30 saves.
  • Shots on the night were even, 32-all.
