HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team lost in three sets to visiting Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday at the Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pilgrims had their best shot against the Lions in the second set, as they took a 22-21 lead off a kill from senior middle blocker Samantha Vargas (Riverside, Calif.). But the Lions rallied, taking four of the next five rallies to close it out.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman outside hitter Lily-Anne Heywood (Derry, N.H.) had one of her best matches of the season with six kills, a .500 hitting percentage and a block assist.
- ENC sophomore outside hitter Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) led all players with 13 kills on the day.
- NEC junior outside hitter Amber Thi (Kalihi, Hawaii) posted a match-high 13 digs with four kills.
- ENC junior setter Telma Zelaya (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) finished with 33 set assists and ten digs.
- Serving proved critical during the match, as the Lions out-aced the Pilgrims, 14-2.
SENIOR DAY
- Prior to the game, the New England College women's volleyball program and athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. Vargas, libero Jaycie Kodama (Pauoa Valley, Hawaii), middle blocker Livia Elfering (Parker, Colo.) and outside hitter Nyah Piper (Mililani, Hawaii) were recognized by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for all their contributions not only on the court, but to the entire NEC community as a whole. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.
UP NEXT
- NEC has clinched the second seed in the upcoming NECC Championship tournament. They'll play host to third-seeded Mitchell College on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
