Men’s Soccer Nips Lynx for First NECC Win

LEXINGTON, Mass. – The New England College men's soccer team won their first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match of the season on Saturday at Lesley University, prevailing 2-0 at the Minuteman Multi-sport Field in Lexington, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • NEC graduate forward Tucker Stenger (Enfield, N.H.) got the scoring started in the 27th minute, that coming off an assist from freshman midfielder Wyatt Flibbert (Windham, Maine) at the Pilgrims took a 1-0 lead. It was the second goal of the season for Stenger and proved to be the eventual game-winner.
  • NEC sophomore midfielder William Scala (Manchester, N.H.) scored his third goal of the season in the 49th minute, giving the 'Grims breathing room. 2-0 would hold up as the final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC sophomore goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) preserved the win with four saves.
  • Lesley Josiah Williams tallied nine saves for the Lynx.
  • The Pilgrims outshot the Lynx, 12-7.
