Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College Men's Lacrosse team cruises to a 15-6 win over Castleton University in non-conference action, Thursday evening.
Following the game, the Pilgrims improve to 5-3, while the Spartans drop to 0-8 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
New England College started fast, as they won the opening faceoff and proceeded to score 19 seconds in. The Pilgrims put their foot on the gas, as the lead ballooned to 7-0 by the end of the first quarter. In the second, NEC expanded their advantage to 12-0. In the first half, the 'Grims outshot the Spartans 32-8 and won nine of 14 faceoffs.
In the third quarter, it was all Castleton, as they struck three times and outshot NEC 15-4. The script would go back to how it was in the first half, in the fourth. The two teams split the six goals in the fourth, but New England College had a 15-4 advantage in the shot department.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Eight different Pilgrims recorded a point in the game, as Patrick Storie led the way with two goals and five assists.
- Quint Bartush won 16 of 25 faceoffs and had seven ground balls.
- NEC caused 16 Castleton turnovers, which is the most that they have forced since they had 20 against Becker on April 13, 2019.
- New England College leads the all-time series 33-7 and has taken the last seven matchups against Castleton
