HOW IT HAPPENED

The first period saw very even play from both teams with neither able to gain a definitive edge despite opportunities both ways. The Pilgrims got on the board first as TJ Dougan scored his first collegiate goal for a 1-0 lead. Linus Udd Hellgren and Connor Inger picked up assists on the goal. Play evened out from there until the Beavers picked up a five-on-three opportunity with one minute left in the period. Babson capitalized on the opportunity as they knotted things up at 1-1 with 30 seconds to play in the first.

There was back-and-forth play to start out the second period with both teams getting pucks on net, but nothing to show for it. About halfway through the period, the Beavers got a good offensive possession and scored on a deep shot to claim their first lead at 2-1. A few minutes later Babson added another goal on a broken-up play, right after a powerplay, to extend the lead to 3-1. The Beavers offense was firing on all cylinders in the period as they added two goals in 30 seconds and closed out the period with a 5-1 lead.

The third period saw physical play from both sides as New England College fought to try and cut the deficit. The Pilgrims were finally able to break through about halfway through the period as Connor Inger scored off an assist from Anthony Cinato to make it 5-2. Babson responded two minutes later with a powerplay goal to bring their lead back to four. New England College made a late push but could not score as the Beavers took home a 6-2 win.
