Men's Ice Hockey and Babson College Skate to 4-4 Tie

Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College men's ice hockey team keeps the third-longest active unbeaten streak to nine games following a 4-4 overtime tie against Babson College in New England Hockey Conference action, Saturday evening.

The Pilgrims goes to 10-3-3 and 5-3-3 in league play, while the Beavers goes to 12-3-2 and 7-1-2 in NEHC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
NEC got on the board at the tail end of the first period, when Carlos Fornaris fed Connor Fries with a backhanded pass from behind the net. Babson scored the equalizer to open the second period as Matt Wisesner tipped in the Ryan McDougall slapshot from the point on the power-play. The Beavers captured the lead halfway through the second, as Trevor Marcinick redirected the Ryan Campbell shot into the back of the net.

The back-and-forth game would head into the third period tied due to Fries who struck with 20 seconds remaining in the period. He forced a turnover at the Babson defensive blue-line and scored on the breakaway through the five-hole.

The Beavers responded in the early going in the third period, as Mike Egan buried home the rebound off of John Corrigan's shot. Two minutes later, captain Mike Whitehair evened the score for the Pilgrims as he got a piece of CJ Valerian's shot from the point. Ryan Walsh gave New England College the lead after he scored on a one-timer off the cross-slot feed from Carlos Fornaris. Babson College tied the game up at 4-4 halfway through the third period as Nick Rosa scored following the Beavers cycling the puck around the New England College net.

GOALTENDERS
Anthony Pupplo turned aside 38 saves in the win, while Matt Pompa had 31 save for the Beavers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- This was the 71st matchup between the two schools, Babson now leads the all-time series 43-21-6.
- With a pair of assists in tonight's game, Fornaris is tied for third in Division III with 21 assists this year.
