Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England College men's ice hockey team played to a 2-2 tie with Babson College in both teams' New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) openers.
The Pilgrims will go to 1-0-1 overall with a 0-0-1 record in the NEHC. Babson will go to 1-0-1 with a 0-0-1 record in the NEHC as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first frame, three goals were scored in less than two minutes. Babson's Ryan Black got the scoring start at 8:26 of the first period.
Ryan Walsh (Hanover, Mass.) responded with his first goal of the season at 9:11 and
William Riise (Charlottenlund, Denmark) gave the Pilgrims the lead at 10:14 with his first of the season.
Connor Fries (Barnstable, Mass.) earned assists on both Pilgrim goals. The Pilgrims would lead for the equivalent of one period before Babson tied the game at two. Matt Wiesner is credited with the tally that tied the contest.
The Pilgrims fired 31 shots on goal while the Beavers fired 37. The five-minute overtime period saw Babson earn four shots on goal to NEC's two.
GOALTENDERS
Anthony Pupplo (Shirley, N.Y.) made his first start as a Pilgrim, making 35 saves on 37 shots on goal. Bryan Botcher made 29 saves on 31 shots on goal.

The Pilgrims are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to UMass Boston for another NEHC matchup. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
