The New England College men's ice hockey team is hosting Amherst College for their first game of the 2018 calendar year.
SCOUTING THE PILGRIMS
The Pilgrims finished the first half of their season with a 6-4-1 overall record with a 3-3-1 record in the NEHC.
Bryce Nielsen and
Joe Osaka are leading the team in scoring with six goals each.
Adam Zollner leads the team in assists with nine. Zollner leads the team in points with 12. Nielsen and
Carlos Fornaris follow closely with 11 points each.
Kyle Shapiro has been the go-to starter for the Pilgrims. He has appeared in nine games with a 4-4-1 record. He has faced 280 shots, stopping 256 of them for a .914 shooting percentage. This will be the first contest for the Pilgrims since December 1st.
SCOUTING THE MAMMOTHS
The Mammoths are 4-2-3 on the season with a 2-0-3 record in the NESCAC. They did host Endicott on New Year's Eve but fell 2-1 in overtime. Patrick Daly has recorded a team high five goals. Thomas Lindstrom leads the team in assists with seven and in points with 11. Connor Girard has made six appearances with a 2-1-3 record. He has faced 150 shots, stopping 138 saves for a .920 save percentage.
Amherst finished last season with a 14-7-3 overall record with a 9-6-3 record in the NESCAC. They fell to Williams in the NESCAC Quarterfinals last season, 2-1.
HEAD TO HEAD
The teams met once last season in Amherst, Mass.The Mammoths came away victorious by a 3-1 score. Amherst holds the all-time record, 13-10.
